Welcome to Wind Haven Horse Rescue.

ABUSE. ABANDONMENT. NEGLECT. STARVATION.

Horses arrive at Wind Haven Horse Rescue for a variety of reasons, but all are in need of a safe, structured, loving environment. Whether they come from the auction house, an owner who has run out of alternatives, or rescued from a dire situation, Wind Haven Horse Rescue is here to help.

When a horse arrives at Wind Haven, it is placed in quarantine while expert staff and volunteers evaluate its state of health and determine the level of veterinary assistance required. As the horse’s body heals, the Wind Haven staff will assess its personality and level of training, and will begin to assist it to regain a state of social and emotional balance.

As the horse becomes more physically and emotionally fit, it graduates to sharing more time in a pasture with compatible companions. Training requirements are further addressed so that Wind Haven can match the horse with it’s new, responsible, life-long adoptive owner.

Here at Wind Haven Horse Rescue we offer the horses a wonderful way to restore their trust. Clicker training will be used in the initial training interaction and throughout their stay here at the farm. It’s a positive reinforcement system where the horses will receive a reward for good efforts. At the clicker training page you can read why we use this fun way to teach.

Clean Technology Developments

Wind Haven is teaming up with NCS power to implement cutting-edge new developments in green technology and clean energy. In 2009, we have plans to deploy everything from vertical wind turbines to LED street lighting throughout the ranch. We’re commited to advancing alternate energy solutions and excited about the possibilities they hold for the future. Learn more about our energy-efficient projects, or view our official press release for more information.
